Kombucha, Kraut & Gut-Loving Culture
Led by the brilliant Jane Moran, our latest session explored fermented foods and why they matter — not just for digestion, but for brain health, immunity, skin, mood, and even long-term resilience.
Here are just a few of the key takeaways from today:
🦠 Your gut microbiome thrives on variety
The more plant foods, fibre, and fermented foods you eat, the more diverse and resilient your gut flora becomes. Aim for 30+ different plant foods each week to keep your gut ecosystem strong and supportive.
💤 Sleep and stress matter just as much as food
High stress and poor sleep can harm the balance of your microbiome, leading to issues like bloating, fatigue, and brain fog. Taking care of your nervous system is a key part of gut health — think deep breaths, early nights, and quiet time.
💊 Probiotics can help, especially during high-stress times
While fermented foods are a great starting point, probiotic supplements like Terranova Microflora Complex can be especially useful after antibiotics, illness, travel, or during times of change. The key is consistency — little and often works best.
🧠 Gut health affects everything from mood to energy
Jane touched on how fermented foods may support cellular energy through the NAD pathway, improve neurotransmitter production (like serotonin), and even support skin health. The gut truly is your body’s second brain — and feeding it well helps everything else work better.
We’re excited to announce that from the 25th July we are brewing up in-store! You can now enjoy:
Monmouth Coffee – organic, ethical and eco
Porter Hill Loose Leaf Teas – beautifully blended and grown with care
Whether you're here to browse or just passing by, you can now drink in or take out. We’ve curated each blend with the same care we bring to everything at Fettle.
From Wednesday 26th June, we’ll be open Wednesday to Saturday only.
This new rhythm gives us space to source more ethical goods, host more meaningful events, and offer you a calmer, more thoughtful in-store experience. Thanks for supporting this slower pace — it means a lot.
Want to go deeper into your gut health, hormones, or everyday nutrition? Jane offers 1:1 consultations in our upstairs practitioner room. You can follow her here or Book Here
Thanks again for being part of the Fettle community. Whether you’re here for the kraut or the coffee, we’re always glad to see you.
See you soon,
Alex + the Fettle Team
